Student Council

Washington School has an active Student Council. Classroom representatives are elected in grades 2-5 to serve on the council and the four officers are 5th graders who are nominated, campaign, and get elected by the student body.

Student Council holds special events and fundraisers and does projects to support the school community as well as the greater Oshkosh Community.

Student Council also works with the PTO to collect Campbell Soup labels, Boxtops for Education and milk jug tops. Please collect these items all year long and send them in at least once per month. It is appreciated if you could trim the labels and boxtops before you return them to school. Milk jug caps are collected from any of the companies that say 5 cents on the cap. Please rinse them and remove the white liner under the cap before you send them. Every item you send items in means money and other supplies for Washington School, so ask neighbors and relatives to collect too!

Lighted School House

Lighted School House is an after school program that is funded through a 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant. Lighted School House runs 5 sessions during the school year and operates Monday-Thursday from 2:45-5:00 pm. After a healthy snack and recess time, students settle in for a 45 minute homework and academic support period with trained volunteers. From 4-5 pm, students participate in a wide variety of enrichment programs such as cooking, gardening, yoga, drum circles, art, and much, much more! Most of the enrichment programs are provided by local community organizations. (See the list of partners on the "Community Connections" page.) On the Wednesdays that students are dismissed from school early (see the "Calendar" page) the Lighted School House takes field trips to the YMCA and the Oshkosh Gymnastics Center. For more information about Lighted School House, please contact Lindsey DeVries at (920)424-0190. Registration forms can be found on the "Forms & Documents page.
