Parent/Teacher Organization (PTO)

Mission
Parent and educators united in improving the educational environment,
experiences and opportunities for Washington Elementary students.

The Washington School Parent-Teacher Organization is comprised of interested parents and staff members who meet regularly during the school year. Its primary purpose is to sponsor fund-raising projects and educational lyceum programs which will benefit Washington School students. The funds received through various projects help finance field trips, lyceum programs, media needs, birthday books, playground equipment, and miscellaneous items. PTO organizes the Boo Bash, Family Dinner/Bingo Night, Holiday Store, and Fall and Spring Scholastic Book Fairs. They also organize the Washington T-shirt sale. PTO meetings provide time to discuss parent and school issues and to share ideas and noteworthy information pertaining to the needs of Washington School students and their families. Your attendance at meetings and support of activities is very much needed and we encourage you to become an active member of this group. Information regarding PTO activities is sent home with students and included in the CONNECTIONS Newsletter (see "newsletter" page to find the latest edition).

As an ongoing money-making project, PTO collects Boxtops for Education, Campbell Soup Labels and milk jug tops.

Volunteer Opportunities

There are many volunteer opportunities within the Oshkosh Area School District. These opportunities are available for parents as well as other citizens within the system who would like to volunteer in a school setting. Opportunities include tutoring as well as providing assistance in a computer lab, running off materials for teachers, putting up bulletin boards, stuffing envelopes, and helping the school in a variety of ways. A volunteer sign-up form is available in each school and also is available online through the volunteer application link on the "forms and documents page".
